Hi
It’s all about the books this month! My other news is scant because I feel as if I have spent every waking minute with Leifur and Astrid from Adrift in Iceland. This Iceland book is coming out almost a month earlier than usual so it’s been a race to get the edits finished and the cover finalised. It’s also my favourite part of the whole process. While I’m writing the first draft, the prospect of editing it is what keeps me going. By the time I write ‘The End’ on the first draft, the beginning of the book is a distant memory and I love reading back over it, tweaking and rewriting it as I go. Then there’s a little break while it’s with my actual editor before I get to work on her changes.
Although this race to get the book finished is fun, it’s not as much fun as it could be because I have a day job. But a series of serendipitous events have meant that I am going to cut the day job hours down. Hopefully this means I can write an extra book a year and also have time to de-jungle the garden and do some sewing. Not in that order. It feels like the start of a new chapter so in October, hopefully I’ll be talking to you about decorating my new office. But before then look out for a special release day newsletter with a giveaway!

Adrift in Iceland
Thank you if you’ve already pre-ordered! I couldn’t believe it when Adrift got to number 535 in the whole Kindle chart the day after the pre-order went live, and it’s had a Bestseller flag ever since. Incredible! It’s out on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited and in paperback on 7th October.
When Leifur Magnússon’s family fishing business becomes another casualty of Iceland’s changing fishing industry, all he has left is his boat—and the weight of his father’s legacy. Determined to honour the past while securing his future, he transforms his fishing vessel into a whale-watching tour boat, hoping the waters that once provided his livelihood might save him yet again.
Marine biologist Astrid Jonsdóttir returns to Iceland feeling like a stranger in her own homeland. After working for years in Norway, she’s caught between worlds—no longer at home in Reykjavik, yet with nowhere else to go. When an unexpected opportunity arises to guide whale-watching tours for the summer, she finds herself aboard Leifur’s converted fishing boat, navigating more than just Iceland’s spectacular coastline.
As their love of the ocean brings them together, helping them overcome the difficulties of their new lives, what begins as a summer romance suddenly becomes something more. But can love flourish when both are still searching for where they truly belong?
Join Astrid and Leifur for a summer of whale-watching, storms and cosy nights out in Reykjavik with Gudrun, Jonas and the rest of the gang!

Reading and watching
I’m in a definite cowboy romance phase. Hot off the heels of the third Lyla Sage book, I’m reading the fourth, Wild and Wrangled. The best thing is that there is quite a lot of Gus from the third book which is great. Dusty, the hero, isn’t quite as hot as Gus, but that’s probably just me. It’s a fab book and I am enjoying it so much. In between these two, I read Elsie Silver’s Wild Card, the fourth in the Rose Hill series. This is not strictly cowboy but it has the same vibe and the meet cute at the beginning is great. The whole series is brilliant, if a little steamy. Consider yourself warned!
As usual when I’m in the thick of writing, I haven’t watched much television but I did go and see the new Downton film last night at the cinema. It was the thirtieth anniversary of our first date to the same cinema, so we were recreating it! The film was everything you want from Downton. All the characters made an appearance and the storyline was engaging. It centred around Lady Mary who I love, so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you for your continuing support for my books. Keep an eye out for the giveaway in a couple of weeks. Until then, happy reading!
