Hi
I’ve had masses of fun this month at the two author events I went to. The Kenilworth one was especially wonderful because some Icelandic Romance readers came to visit me! I had the pleasure of meeting Wendy who is lucky enough to have regular trips to Iceland since her son is living and working there at the moment. Lisa and Jason came especially to buy Adrift in Iceland and were both looking forward to catching up with the Iceland gang! I must say it’s amazing to meet readers in real life and I enjoyed it so much that I’ve signed up to a whole host of events in 2026 so that I can meet more of you.
The office decorating has predictably taken much longer than I thought it would. I have been slowly moving my stuff into there, trying to keep it as beautifully neat and curated as the shelf on the left but unfortunately I do have a lot of things I can’t part with so the shelf on the right is the reality of the situation, and that’ll probably only get worse! But I am very pleased with my desk corner and my paint choices, especially the green door. I’m in love with it.

Since the last newsletter Mr W and I have been to North Yorkshire for a lovely autumnal break in a cabin in the forest, right next to the moors. We went for lots of walks, marvelling at the different kinds of fungi growing there, and were beckoned home by the call of the hot tub and the promise of a cold beer. We also went to Whitby for the day which I loved! The Abbey was amazing, still so beautiful even though it’s in ruins. Is there anything better than eating fish and chips next to the sea? And we went to Pickering Castle where I was taken with the graffiti almost as much as the Mott and Bailey (anyone else remember that from history classes?!) castle itself. Oh and we had a daily Quirkle championship which I’m pretty sure Mr W was only keen on because he kept winning.

The Snug Club
This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now. It’s a private Facebook group for my readers. The difference between this and my author page is that the posts in this group can only be seen by the members of the group and there are membership criteria to be allowed in (only a couple of questions to make sure bots can’t join!) It’s called the Snug Club but it’s for everyone whether they’re an Iceland or Croftwood fan. I’m hoping it becomes a place for us to meet, a bit like this, where I can share more with you than I would on my author Facebook page and where we can chat about the books we love, whoever has written them. I’m also planning to share previews, maybe deleted scenes and little extras like that. The link below takes you to the page where you can join.
Reading and watching
I’ve just finished reading Crystal Creek by Kelly Collins. It’s the second in the Port Promise series and I loved it! It’s set in Alaska which takes me straight back to watching Northern Exposure in the 1990’s and it’s a small town romance series based around a set of siblings. In this story a Hollywood star arrives in Crystal Creek looking for redemption by embarking on a wilderness retreat so she can ‘find herself’. Her guide is Finn, a proper wilderness guide who grew up in the town and owns the resort where she’s staying. It was pacy with lots of chemistry between them without being overly spicy. Loved it!
Are you watching Traitors? I am obsessed. I’ve never watched it before this series but I think I might have to go back and watch all the old series because I’ll be bereft when it finishes. We’ve also started watching The Last Frontier on Apple TV. Funnily enough also set in Alaska, it’s the story of a prison transport plane crashing near a town and the aftermath of that. It’s a twisty, turney ride and it’s very watchable and gripping. We’re also watching season 2 of Nobody Wants This on Netflix. It’s the series with the hot rabbi, and I don’t know if it’s me, but there seems to be no chemistry whatsoever between Noah and Joanne in this season. I’m watching it but not loving it like I did the last season. Maybe that’s just because it’s not as good as Traitors, I don’t know.
So until next time, happy reading and do enter the giveaway!
